Itinerary: Day 1 San Francisco-Beijing (Inflight Meal) Board an international transpacific flight to the ancient capitol of China. Day 2 Beijing After arrival, transfer to hotel. (Hotel: Hotel Capitol or similar) Day 3 Beijing (B,L,D) Visit the Tiananmen Square, largest city-center square in the world. Then, visit the largest existing group of imperial residence in the World, 'the Forbidden City', residence of emperors of Ming and Qing dynasties. Visit the Temple of Heaven, where emperors offered sacrifices to Heaven. The architecture is very unique and built according to the celestial orders and rules. Visit the Summer Palace, with lovely Kunming Lake, pavilions, walkways, rest areas, temples and the stone carved ship, the largest and most well preserved imperial garden.Ê Welcome dinner at famous restaurant for Roasted Peking Duck, the famous Peking dish. (Hotel: Hotel Capitol or similar) Day 4 Beijing (B, L, D) In the morning, visit the Great Wall, the gigantic defensive project whose beginning can be traced as far back as 770-467 B.C.Ê This is one of the seven architectural wonders of the ancient world and the only visible man built object from the moon. Enjoy lunch at the ÔOld PekingÕ homes. Enjoy a rickshaw ride visiting the Hutongs where you still can see the old style houses while zizaging on the narrow alleys. Visit Prince GongÕs Palace. At night, watch the Opera. (Hotel: Hotel Capitol or similar) Day 5 Beijing Ð Xian (B,L,D) Fly to Xian, one of the 4 ancient capitols of China for 13 dynasties dated from 4000 B.C. Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda which houses 657 volumes of Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by famous Monk Xuan Zhang in Tang Dynasty in 652.Ê Tonight you will be entertained by a Tang Dynasty Songs and Dance show. (Hotel: Sheraton or similar) Day 6 Xian (B,L,D) Visit the Terracotta Excavation site and be awed by the life-size terracotta warriors and horses, claimed to be the Ôeighth wonder of the worldÕ. Visit the Huaqing Hot Spring Resort with the romance of Tang Ming Emperor and his concubine Yang. Then visit the 6000 year old Banpo village which was a typical matriarchal clan community. Take an overnight train to Shanghai. Day 7 Xian Ð Shanghai (B,L,D) Arrive at Shanghai,Êvisit to Old Shanghai Cheng Huang Miao, a shopping and food haven. Enjoy the little eats of Shanghai in the famous Cheng Huang Miao for breakfast.Ê Visit Yu Garden, famous because of Ming Dynasty classic garden set up with ponds, pavilions and rock etc.Ê Check into hotel after lunch.Ê Visit the Famed Shanghai Bund and the Nanking Road. The rest of day free for leisure or shopping. (Htl: Purple Mountain or similar) Day 8 Shanghai Ð San Francisco (B) Prepare for a flight back home sweet home.
