Costa
Rica literally translates to 'rich coast', and it
certainly lives up to its name. With coastlines on
both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, a high central
plateau, volcanic mountains, and vast tracts of unspoiled
forest, Costa Rica is a place of breathtaking beauty
and truly ashtonishing biodiversity.
Over
850 species of birds are found here, and over 200
species of mammals, including jaguars, howler monkeys,
and sloths. Costa Rica is one of the world's most
progressive countries in its efforts to protect the
earth's endangered rain forests.
The
gentle, friendly Costa Rican people will impress you
too, with their warm hospitality, great cooking and
easy laughter. From active volcanos, to cloud forests,
to tropical beaches, this is a very rich country indeed,
and a great travel destination.
